YOGA
| CLASSES
I'm taking a little breather from teaching yoga right now. I was teaching Beginners Yoga, Hatha, Gentle Hatha, and Yin & Restore. I was teaching at Tandava Yoga and UBC in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. I am grateful for both places and the people I met. I don't know when I when I will be teaching again, and if I do, teaching beginners is what I love the most.
ABOUT MY CLASSES
My classes focus on breath, alignment, body awareness, and mindfulness—where we place our attention. In addition to asana (postures), meditation and pranyama (breathwork), they may integrate Qigong, Tai Chi and Self-Massage. Sometimes I weave themes of yoga philosophy, life experiences, poetry and nature throughout my classes, iinviting students into a deeper experience of themselves.
I believe in order to truly flourish it is vital to shift stagnent energy in our bodies and in our minds, allowing it to move freely, creating space for life to flow through us. We can do this with our breath, with our focused attention, and with movement; placing our attention on our breath, and allowing our breath to move us.
My passion is to teach students to be more gentle with themselves through self-awareness (mind and body) and self-compassion, and to meet themselves where they're at. My wish is for everyone to treat themselves how they would treat their best friend, and, to indeed, become their own best friend.
I love teaching new students, and I enjoyed teaching the Beginnners Series at Tandava Yoga.

| ABOUT ME
I have been practicing yoga for over 14 years, and fell in love with the practice in 2011 when I was introduced to Anusara® Yoga and the Universal Principals of Alignment™. These principals helped alleviate chronic headaches, and shoulder & neck pain. I have over 300 hours of Anusara® Yoga training, plus my 200 hour teacher training, which I completed in Salt Lake City, Utah in January 2016.
I practice daily, even if it's only for 12 minutes. It's usually longer, but that is my commitment to myself.

| 108 DEEPEST BOWS OF GRATITUDE...
... to my main and/or most recent teachers that I studied with in person during my yoga training in Salt Lake City: Lyndsey Marie Holm, Sheldon Thieszen, and visiting teachers, Christopher Hareesh Wallis and Sianna Sherman.
...to Hareesh Wallis and his Micro Meditation Practices and so much more!
... to my favorite teacher whom I've never met yet, Elena Brower. Your beautiful practices (asana, meditation & pranayama) on YogaGlo, helped my find the surface when I felt like I was drowning. More recently, you inspire creativity in my practice, my teaching and in my life, and inspire me to speak my truth, always.
... to Sally Kempton and her brilliant book, 'Meditation for the Love of it," and your presence on YogaGlo. You helped my find my breath and myself when I thought that I was lost.
I have so much gratitude for all my teachers, and there are far too many to name here.

| TESTIMONIALS + GRATITUDE
"A HUGE thank you from myself and Kaelyn. [Your class] was definitely magical. Thank you so much. You definitely have a gift!"
| Andrea, Kelowna, BC, Canada |
"That was... the best yoga class I've ever taken."
| Kaelyn, Kelowna, BC, Canada |
"Jackie is a very kind, nurturing, and insightful teacher who knows how to teach from the heart. Her passion and adeptness in the practice of asana exudes her understanding of the rich traditions of yoga. Her ability to connect with her students offers a balanced, safe environment for yogis to experience the extraordinary."
| Kristina, Salt Lake City, UT, USA |
"When Jackie was attending her yoga teacher training, I had the privilege of being her practice student on several occasions. It was my intention to be a good student and provide her a space to practice her skills. It was through her skilled command of putting together a good class that I lost myself in the actual practice. Her voice, languaging, and sequencing allowed me to experience a beautiful practice."
| Marianne, Salt Lake City, UT, USA |
"Jackie provided personal yoga instruction at our home for 6 months. She is a playful teacher and her classes always put a strong emphasis on breath and alignment. She worked hard to tailor classes to meet our goals and provided excellent feedback to help us refine our practice. If she didn’t have an answer to a question, she would thoroughly research the subject and provide a detailed answer in our next class."
| Kris, Salt Lake City, UT, USA |
"I've had opportunity to take group and private yoga classes from Jackie; she is an incredible teacher. She creates a very calm and safe space to practice. It's apparent that she puts a lot of preparation into the content and theme of the classes she teaches. I love how she brings in other elements such as Qigong and meditation depending on needs of the students. She is first and foremost a serious student of yoga which is why it's very natural for her to sit in the seat of teacher."
| Shawn, Salt Lake City, UT, USA |
"Jackie teaches with compassion. Her classes are thoughtfully designed with her student's needs in mind. On more than one occasion Jackie has provided me with a thoughtful practice tailored to my needs that day. She makes it a point to check in with her students and build a curriculum according to their needs, often improvising with the information offered by a student at the start of that particular class. She has the education and experience to be able to adapt her class structure to a variety of levels and abilities."
